Official calls for good family health practices

New Techiman (B/A), March 22, GNA - Mr. John Asamani, an environmental health officer for Tanoso Sub-District has expressed regret about the unwillingness of some fathers to practice family planning with their wives but are ready to do it with their mistresses. Mr. Asamani was speaking at separate durbars of Chiefs and people at Akissimasu and New Techiman as part of a public education programme on environmental and personal hygiene, as well as family planning issues.

He called on the people to adopt "proper" planning of families and to practice good health habits so that especially the women could take good care of the little children.

The environmental health officer noted that unhealthy environment was a bad influence on the family and asked individuals and communities to keep their environment clean.

Mr. Asamani appealed to family heads to devote themselves to organizing communal labour to keep their surroundings clean. He also urged food sellers to be medically examined and issued with medical certificates before operating.
