Offinso (Ash), April 28, GNA - The Offinso District Health Directorate has started a campaign in some communities, schools and churches to educate them about HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB). The campaign aims at sensitising the people on the dangers of such diseases and the need to protect them.

Miss Georgina Konadu, officer in-charge of the TB control in the district, addressing one of such campaigns at Offinso Training Centre for the Disabled on Tuesday, said the HIV/AIDS and TB were inseparable because of the increasing cases of such diseases.

She noted that for five years the district had recorded many cases of HIV/AIDS and TB and that quite a number of the victims had died. Miss Konadu told the people that TB is curable and urged people who have contracted the disease to attend hospital for medical care. Mr Sylvester Barima-Antwi, Field Director of the Offinso Training Centre for the Disabled, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the district health directorate for the programme.
