The Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh Wednesday handed over a six unit classroom block with offices, staff common room and toilet facilities to the Asuotwe Islamic Junior High School at Abourso, a suburb of Techiman in a short ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the MCE said the project, which took eight months to complete is a part of the president’s “Better Ghana Agenda”, adding that education was one of the topmost priorities of the President Mills- led NDC government. He said so far, about fifty basic education projects were being undertaken, majority of which have been completed.

Prior to this, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh had visited the Guarkro Effah Senior High School at Offuman where he cut the sod for the construction of another six unit classroom block with ancillary facilities. He also donated ten (10) brand new flat screen desktop computers worth GH?15000.00 to the school.

The MCE, in his address said the municipality he came to inherit was a “wounded and sick” one which requires patience and concerted efforts to heal. He said estimates and all necessary documentation for the bituminous surfacing of the Offuman road, has already been submitted pending the award of the contract.

For her part, queen mother of Offuman, Nana Akosua Amobeng II urged the MCE to ignore his detractors from the town who are peddling falsehoods concerning the water situation in the town and promised her willingness to cooperate with the MCE towards the development of the town.

She urged the teachers and other workers to stay clear off chieftaincy disputes that were currently ongoing in the town.

Guarkro Effah SHS which was established in 1991, currently has five hundred students, a growth which compelled the MCE to champion the construction of a 2-storey 12-unit classroom block for the school.
