Oforikrom Constituency inaugurated

Kumasi, Oct 6, GNA- The Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, has supported about 400 women in the newly created Oforikrom Constituency, to undertake income-generating ventures under the poverty alleviation programme.

Miss Elizabeth Agyemang, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), parliamentary candidate for the Constituency, who announced this, without disclosing the amount of money involved, asked the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds and strive to pay back on time to expand the network of beneficiaries.

She was speaking during the inauguration of the Constituency in Kumasi.

Miss Agyemang said if elected as Member of Parliament, she would liaise with stakeholders to establish an endowment fund to support brilliant but needy students, especially the girl-child.

Miss Agyemang said since the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was within her Constituency, she would solicit funds to construct a hostel for the school.

She said she would set up an HIV/AIDS education campaign team, to sensitise the people on the pandemic.

Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the ruling NPP had put in place policies that had ensured rapid socio-economic development and appealed to the electorate to vote massively for the Party in the December Presidential and Parliamentary polls.
