Suhum, April 24, GNA- The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has commended Members of Parliament (MPs) in the area for their role in the endorsement of the Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCE'S). He said the support of the MPs in the confirmation of the President's nominees was overwhelming and needed to be commended by all. Speaking at an emergency meeting of the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly to confirm Mr Samuel Okwabi as the DCE for the area, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo described their support as an exhibition of maturity and progress. He said the MPs had shown that the development and wellbeing of the very people they represented was above their party and parochial interests. According to the Minister, of all the municipal and districts assemblies visited so far for the endorsement of the nominees, the MPs had advised the assembly members from voting on party lines which could lead to the rejection of the nominees. He said the nominees had gone through scrutiny and satisfied expectations of the President hence their nomination and therefore the people should only give them the needed support to function. Mr Samuel Ayepey, MP for Ayensuano, said voting on party lines might not necessarily lead to the rejection of nominees but rather point out a sharp division on partisan level in the assembly. He said such development did not facilitate the development of the districts as well as the wellbeing of the people.
