Ofosukrom (E/R), March 13, GNA - The fate of pupils of the Ofosukrom Local Authority Primary School in the Birim South District hangs in the balance as a result of the absence of teachers in the school for some time now. This came to light when the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Frank Kwame Bosumtwi, went on a familiarization tour of the community on Tuesday.

The residents told the DCE that there was a male teacher in the school handling the kindergarten up to class three, but following an incident last year, he was withdrawn and since then no teacher had been posted to the school. In a telephone conversation, Mrs Stella Nanor, District Director of Education confirmed the unfortunate situation of the school but said the Education Directorate was taking the necessary steps to post a teacher to the school soon.

Meanwhile, Mr Bosumtwi has handed over the keys of a block of three classrooms for the Akim Apoli L/A Primary School to officials of the District Directorate of Education. The 300-million-cedi project was financed through the Assembly's Common Fund. Mr Bosumtwi appealed to both staff and pupils of the school, as well as members of the community, to maintain the project to pro-long its lifespan. Mrs Nanor expressed her gratitude to the Assembly on its tireless efforts to help promote teaching and learning in schools in the District and urged parents to reciprocate the gesture by enrolling their children of school-going age.
