Cape Coast, June 22, GNA - Hours before the official kick=96off of the final group match between Ghana's senior national football team, the Black Stars and their United States counterpart at 1400 hours, in Germany, many residents in Cape Coast, had been gripped by what could be described as high patriotism.

All over metropolis, numerous commercial and private vehicle drivers draped the bonnets of their cars with the national flag, and tooted their horns to herald the match, for which all Ghanaians had high expectations that the Stars would win.

Workers were not been left out, as by 12 noon, most of them at the Ministries Block, had either left their offices to other organizations that had television sets in their offices, or had gone home to watch the match.

An added mark of patriotism was the scramble for the =93Proud to be a Ghanaian=94 car stickers, which depict a Black Stars' player kicking a ball into a net, which was being distributed by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation to whip up enthusiasm in the match.

Many people, in their delight to express their patriotism for the Stars, were eager to get some of the stickers, whether they had cars or not.

At the time of filing the story, there was also little vehicular traffic.
