Okatakyie Kudom reconciles with sub-chief

Nkoranza (B/A) April 19, GNA - Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, President of Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs has urged traditional rulers to seek the welfare of the people to ensure unity and understanding among them for accelerated development.

Okatakyie Agyeman, who is Omanhene of Nkoranza traditional area, was addressing a meeting of the traditional council at his palace to settle an impasse between him and Okoforobour Osei Bonsu, chief of Yefri. The sub-chief had not been in good terms with the Omanhene for the past 10 years as he had associated with some people who had made attempts to destool Okatakyie Agyeman.

The impasse was amicably settled with the sub-chief rendering an apology to the Omanhene through a delegation of Yefri Nkosuo Kuo, based in Kumasi and Nana Kwasi Ankomako, fetish priest in-charge of the Ntoa shrine at Sessiman in the area.

Accepting the apology, Okatakyie Agyeman expressed concern about the practice by some people to plan against those in authority, stressing, "People who destroy to win favour and achieve positions should not forget that at the doorstep of their success lies the weapon of destruction".

He expressed regret about how some persons aligned themselves with kingmakers to destool chiefs and queen mothers, although such people did not belong to the royal families.

The Omanhene emphasized that chieftaincy disputes had adverse effect on the development of communities and advised the people to guard against such practices and forge ahead in development.

Mr. Nick Danso Abeam, president of the African Link Network Services, a Tema based NGO, appealed to the youth to avoid engaging in chieftaincy matters and partisan politics to ensure unity, peace and understanding in the communities.
