Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyehene, has called on stakeholders in Okyeman’s Stool lands to formalise their land documents with Kyebi Ofori Panin fie.
He said all acquired lands by individuals and institutions without proper documentation from Ofori Panin fie and the signature of Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin are invalid.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Okantah-Odumase in the Eastern Region, explained that Okyeman has stool lands and not family lands as held by some people.
He urged chiefs, investors and estate developers to stop encroaching on Okyeman’s lands.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin said the indiscriminate selling of Okyeman’s Stool lands without the requisite permission had led to chieftaincy and land litigations with its attendant loss of lives and property.
He said Apedwa, Apapam and Kyebi are landlords and apart from them, none other own lands.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin called on the dwellers of Akyem Abuakwa lands to cooperate with him for the development of the area.
He Nana Mbeah is the only Mponoahene (Boundary Chief) who has the right to inspect the boundaries of Okyeman Stool lands in the area.
During an inspection tour undertaken by the Mponoahene, he was told by Mr Ebenezer Asamoah, Youth Chairman of Okantah-Odumase, that some estate developers and individuals have hired the services of land guards in the area.
He said these land guards threatened farmers who were attending to their farming activities and appealed for their protection.
