Pepedan (Ash), Jan 12, GNA - Mr G.A. Boateng, an old boy of the Pepedan Primary and Junior Secondary School near Bekwai in the Amansie East District of Ashanti Region, has presented education items worth about 12.5 million cedis to the school.

The items included library books, school uniforms, exercise books, musical instruments for the school band and second-hand clothes. Presenting the items Mr Boateng, who is the Accra West Area Manager of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), said he appreciated what the school and the community did for him that enabled him to complete school there.

He said he was aware that the area was deprived and that what the children can do to brighten their future and that of the community was for them to study hard and get to the top.

Mr Boateng appealed to parents to channel their resources into the education of their children and told the children that he and his wife will sponsor the best student in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to the senior secondary school.

Mr D.K. Obeng, the Amansie East District Director of Education, noted the low level of education in the town and gave the assurance that the Ghana Education Service (GES) will work with all stakeholders to raise the level of education.
