Chief Executive Officer of Green Coast Group and Consult, Kwaku Boateng, has launched the one house, one coconut project at Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region to begin in May 2018.
According to him, the planting of trees help reduce urban runoff and erosion by storing water and breaking the force of rains as it falls.
He continued that, trees help absorb sand and reduce noise pollution and provides oxygen by removing carbon dioxide and other contaminants from the air, trees have social, economic and environmental benefits, it conserves water in the soil as well, he added.
“As we celebrate world water day, I entreat all of us to develop the habit of tree planting in our homes, schools, churches, hospitals and community at large, let us join hands in supporting the greening agenda," he said.
Executive Coordinator, Mr. Krobea Asante thanked all partners, the deputy regional minister, Green Coast Group and Consult, Health Top Up Services, the former MCE, Chiefs, Queen mother, Pinaro, E- Cares, Volta Ice, Gloria Mineral Water and Masters for their support towards the celebration of 2018 WWD.
