Open forum on planned projects held in Ayawaso East

As part of efforts to ensure the development of Nima and its environs in a peaceful atmosphere, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ayawaso East, Selma Mohammed Sani Adams Kuta, has held a stakeholders forum in the municipality.

The forum was to engage the community members, especially the youth, to interact with them on some developmental projects that may affect some structures within the municipality.

The stakeholders forum, which aimed at providing a vital platform to discuss crucial matters surrounding the implementation of projects within the municipality, brought together chiefs and opinion leaders as well as youth from various tribes and communities.

The forum also sought to enhance deliberations between the MCE and the people of Nima on initiatives being undertaken by the Assembly and decisions made so far that will shape the future trajectory of the community.

In her address, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ayawaso East, Hajia Selma Mohammed Sani Adams Kuta, revealed that the Assembly has embarked on several initiatives aimed at enhancing the image and infrastructure of the municipality.

Outlining the pressing issues surrounding the implementation of projects in Nima, she stated that a number of projects, such as the GARID project, Agenda 111, police and fire stations, the proposed four-story facility for mixed use at Nuna CDIR, shops, and warehouses, proposed three-story shops and residential apartments near Nima, Ashaiman station, and the proposed community playground at Kawukudi, are being implemented across the municipality.

According to her, the Ayawaso East Municipality has been selected as a beneficiary of the Agenda 111 project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving healthcare access and infrastructure.

She added that the designated site has been cleared and successfully handed over to the contractor, as the remaining section is currently being used by the Nima Polyclinic.

"As we aspire to modernize our municipality, prudent land use is paramount; hence, we are seeking opportunities to construct new building complexes that will serve various purposes and enhance the aesthetic appeal of our town," she noted.

Selma Kuta further revealed that the assembly has partnered with an investor under a public-private partnership arrangement to transform the underutilized CDR land into a four-story building for mixed use.

The facility, she said, will comprise stores, warehouses, a truck park, and offices, adding that the Assembly is exploring a public-private partnership to erect a three-story complex with shops and apartments near Ashiaman Station in Nima.

These projects, according to her, will elevate both the business and residential environment in the municipality.
