Duayaw Nkwanta (B/A) Dec. 24, GNA - The Duayaw Nkwanta Water and Sanitation Development Board on Friday organized an end of year clean-up exercise at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Tano North District in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Members of the community clean the gutters, weeded around the town and swept all public places, such as lorry parks and community centres and the hospital.
Nana Damtey Akom, chairman told the press that the Board took into cognisance the increasING number of malaria cases in the area and decided to embark on the exercise to clean choked gutters which have been the breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
He said the Board has decided to organize such activities every quarterly from next year to ensure that the area and it environments are kept clean since cleanliness is next to goodliness. He advised the public against littering around in the Christmas season but to put all rubbish in dustbins put in the corners of the town.
He appealed to the public to use water economically as Christmas is approaching and must not be wasted to avoid shortage of water in the area.
He gave assurance that the Board has dug a bole-hole in the area to provide water for the community to forestall any shortage.
