Avee (V/R), Sep. 8, GNA - Dr. Asase Memorial Children's Home (DAMCHO), a private orphanage in Ho on Thursday adopted 54 orphans from Avee, a farming community in the Ho Municipal area.

Some of the orphans had lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. Speaking at the adoption ceremony, Miss Mabel Klutse, a Senior Nurse at Ho Municipal Hospital called on caretakers of the orphans to give equal care to all the orphans, irrespective of how they lost their parents.

According to Miss Klutse, all the orphans needed equal love and godly upbringing.

Mr. Louis Attakey, Vice President of the orphanage said the initiative was to ease the pressure on relatives who had taken up the responsibility of catering for those children but were finding it difficult to ensure their holistic development. "We will enroll those who are not yet in school and provide them with learning materials," Mr. Attakey said. DAMCHO, which was established nine years ago, already has 106 orphans under its care.
