The chiefs visited the American diplomat at the U.S. embassy in Accra to bid him farewell.

Mr Jackson thanked them for their support throughout his time in Ghana and for their effort in bringing development to their people.

On Friday, 27 July, his last day as Ambassador, Mr Jackson was presented with a Distinguished Honour Award by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, “for his sustained distinguished honour service and leadership in mentoring a new generation of foreign service leaders and successfully advancing U.S. interests around the world with excellence and diplomatic acumen.”

The award was presented to him by USAID-Ghana Mission Director, Sharon Cromer. He was also presented with a flag of the United States by the Marine Corps.

Mr Jackson retired from active service at the end of last week after a three-year duty tour of Ghana and 37 years of service to the United States.
