The Osudoku Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region has officially announced a ban on drumming and noisemaking within the Osudoku Traditional Area, effective from April 3 to May 4, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Council dated 28h March.2026 and signed by Nene Kweku-Otiti Animle VII, President of the Osudoku Traditional Council, the ban forms part of customary observances aimed at promoting solemn reflection, peace, and spiritual renewal among residents.

During the period, all activities involving drumming, loud music, and other forms of noise—including funerals and social celebrations—are strictly prohibited.

The Council has therefore urged the general public to comply fully with the directive.

The Council also addressed reports of a conflicting notice circulating within the community, which allegedly extends the ban from April 3 to May 5, 2026.

Authorities clarified that the said notice did not originate from the Council, describing it as the work of “unscrupulous persons” seeking to mislead the public.

The matter has been referred to the police for investigation, and residents have been advised to disregard the unauthorized communication.

Reaffirming its authority, the Council emphasized that the power to impose such bans rests solely with the traditional leadership, as practiced across various traditional areas in Ghana. Any similar directives issued by individuals or groups outside the Council, it stressed, should be treated as invalid.

The announcement follows a Traditional Council meeting held at the Palace Hall in Osuwem on March 26, 2026..

The Council further encouraged residents to use the sacred period for spiritual reflection and to seek divine blessings for the area.

Paramount Chief of the Osudoku Traditional Area and President of the Council, Nene Kweku-OtitiAnimle VII, also extended Easter greetings to the Christian community, wishing them a peaceful and reflective celebration.
