Nkawkaw, June 27, GNA - The National Youth Employment Programme (NYP), has offered employment to 573 youth in the Nkawkaw Municipality under eight of its modules. The modules included community education teaching assistant, health extension, sanitation guards, Liberian assistant, tree plantation, youth
in agriculture internship and Zoom lion, The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Boansi Darkwa announced
this at the assembly meeting at Nkawkaw on Friday. He said as an election year, the assembly members had a crucial role in the country's democratic process and urged them to explain the good policies of the government to the people.
Mr Darkwa said the Assembly had undertaken a number of projects in the education, water and sanitation, health, energy and road sectors, which had improved the standard of living in the Municipality and urged the assembly members to assist and cooperate with revenue collectors to enhance revenue generation of the assembly. On revenue, he said the assembly was able to collect 109,234 Ghana cedis at the end of May this year representing 117 percent of the projected target for the period.
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr. Agyenim Boateng said all assembly members in the country would soon be given motor bikes on high purchase basis to enable them to visit their electoral areas to explain their assemblies' polices and programmes to the people. He advised them to attend regular meetings and play their responsible roles effectively to enhance development in the municipality.
