PBC Limited on Tuesday presented a cheque for GH¢ 50,000 towards the upcoming National farmer’s day celebration in Accra.
Presenting the cheque Mrs Nannet Aryee, Head of Corporate Affairs, said the company believes that farmers were the core to their operations and it was important for them to be recognised.
She said the presentation was also part of their corporate social responsibility saying farmers in this country deserve much more than they were receiving now and all must come on board to appreciate them.
Other companies that presented towards the celebration including ASFOAM Ghana Limited presented mattresses of various sizes, bead spreads, towels, pillows and student mattresses worth GH¢ 10,000, Universal Motors a cheque for GH¢ 2, 000, and Ghana Real Estate Limited one Chest Freezer for the best rubber farmer..
Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Agriculture, expressed gratitude to the donors and gave the assurance that all presentations would be used for its intended purpose.
The 28th edition of the Farmers day celebration is slated for November 2 at Abokobi in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, on the theme: “Grow more food: Strengthening Farmer Based Organisations for Market Place Bargaining Power.”
