PIWC Takoradi donate PPEs to market women

The Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) in Takoradi, a ministry of The Church of Pentecost (COP) has distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to market women in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) of the Western Region.

The items which include alcoholic-based hand sanitizers and locally made face masks numbering about one thousand each were distributed to market women at the Effiakuma Market and the newly created Jubilee Market.

Speaking at the presentation, Rev. Daniel Okyei Boakye, Resident Pastor of the church said that the donation forms part of its measures to ensure the successful fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the municipality where the church operates.

According to him, we have to encourage the women to adhere to good personal hygiene principles, especially in public places as instructed by President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

He also called on all residents in the municipality and the region to abide by all the directives issued by both the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the central government to curtail the spread of the virus so that things will be normalized in the country.

The Reverend Minister further called on the market women to put their trust in God who gives true protection and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ in whom we have redemption.

Rev. Boakye and the team of leaders in the church prayed for the market women for God's divine protection, prosperity and healing to be upon them and the nation.

Elder William Kweku Takyi, Presiding Elder of the church lamented that social distancing was not properly adhered to by the market women and urged them to keep to the protocols which were the surest way to control the spread of the virus.

Hon Philip Evans Nyarko, Assemblyman for the Effia Electoral Area who received the items on behalf of the women and led the distribution eulogized the church for their support and promised to encourage them to use the items in order to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
