Koforidua, Oct. 30, GNA-Members of the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA), would hold their National Delegates' Congress on December 9 to elect new officers.
The officers would take over from the current executives who had been in office since the last Congress in 1985.
Mr. Samuel Agyeman, National Organiser made these disclosures at the election of substantive officers for Peace PROTOA in Koforidua during the weekend.
The four-member executive, which would be in office for four years, takes over from an Interim Management Committee. Three of the officers, namely the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and the Treasurer were elected unopposed.
Speaking at the function, Nana Atim Nkansah, National Executive Member and Ashanti Regional Treasurer of PROTOA, advised the new officers to guard against misappropriation of the association's funds. Nana Nkansah further advised them to live above reproach, in order not to lose members' confidence reposed in them.
Mr Isaac Nkrumah, Acting Eastern Regional Co-ordinator of the Road Safety Committee, and Superintendent Cosmas Kwasi Nti, Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service used the occasion to advise motorists to observe road traffic regulations in order to help reduce the spate of accidents. Mr. Ben Amoabeng-Peprah, Greater-Accra Regional Chairman of PROTOA urged members to observe personal hygiene by dressing decently, in order to win the confidence of the travelling public. Mr Amoabeng-Peprah advised drivers to remain sincere and faithful to transport owners.
Mr. Yaw Adogo, Chairman-elect of PROTOA, promised members of a transparent administration.
Mr John Appiah, Mr. Baffour Siaw and Mr. Eric Larbi were elected Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Executive Member respectively.
