Public Relation Officers of the Ghana Education Service (GES) have attended a workshop on the Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP), expected to make education accessible and of good quality to the Ghanaian child.
Public Relations Officers numbering about 50, drawn from regions and districts forming the southern zone including Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra, Central and Western regions, participated in the workshop at Larteh in the Akwapim North District of the Eastern Region.
Mr Stephen Adu, Acting Deputy Director-General of GES in charge of Management Services, who delivered a paper on the content and relevance of the SEIP to quality education delivery, said the project would run for four years.
He said the multi-million dollar World Bank sponsored project was to help upgrade existing facilities in some selected underprivileged senior high schools and put up about 23 new one in areas which lacked them.
"It is a well-planned project with a nice architectural design, expected to make education accessible and of good quality to the Ghanaian child. Go out there as public relations officers to inform the public about it so that they can support its execution," he said.
Madam Elizabeth De-souza, Acting Deputy Director-General of GES, implored participants to make good use of the workshop by equipping themselves with the content and relevance of the project so as to communicate it well to the public.
She expressed delight at the performance of the participants in the discharge of their duties and urged them to see themselves as information managers for the Service.
Mr Eric Boadi, a Public Relations Consultant and a facilitator, urged participants to love their work as communicators, advisors and linguists of the GES, adding; "just strive to do your best even if resources are limited".
