PTA completes computer laboratory for school

Atwima-Koforidua (Ash), June 20, GNA- The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Atwima-Koforidua basic school in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district of Ashanti, has constructed a 50-million-cedi computer laboratory for the school. The project was financed through a special building levy of 20,000 cedis per parent.

Mr Thomas Adu Antwi, headteacher of the school, who announced this at an open forum held at Koforidua on Friday, to discuss the development of the school said Mr Kennedy Asante, a citizen of the town resident in Canada has donated four computers to the school. Mr Albert Osei Asenso, chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), said the SMC was working in collaboration with the PTA to improve upon facilities in the school to enhance teaching and learning. He assured the people that funds mobilised for the improvement of the school's facilities would be judiciously used and urged the residents to contribute meaningfully towards the development of education in the area.

Opanin Kofi Nsiah, an opinion leader of the town, advised the people to desist from writing anonymous letters about school authorities. Madam Ruth Amponsah, a concerned parent from the town expressed worry that as many as 387 parents out of the total number of 610 parents had not yet paid their levy and urged defaulters to pay their monies. Mr Boamah Mensah, teacher at the school, expressed dissatisfaction about the poor state of the classrooms and appealed to the community to rehabilitate them to facilitate teaching and learning.
