Busunya (B/A), April 19, GNA - The Parent- Teacher Association (PTA) of the Busunya Day Senior Secondary School is constructing a staff bungalow for the school at an estimated cost of 50 million cedis. Mr Kingsley Yeboah, the PTA Chairman, announced this during a meeting of members at Busunya in the Nkoranza District of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education said plans were also underway for the construction of a students' hostel in the town.

He called on the PTA to provide a canteen for the school to save the pupils the ordeal of travelling long distances for food. Mr Agyemang-Badu asked members of the Association to motivate the teachers to redouble their efforts to promote academic excellence. He commended the Headmaster of the school, Mr Abubakari Ankomah and the teaching staff for raising the performance of the school in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination for the past two years. Mr Ankomah said the school lacked science laboratory, staff bungalows, student hostel and an assembly hall.

He said some parents had persistently refused to pay the fees of their wards, saying such negative attitudes was a great challenge facing the school and a source of embarrassment for the students affected.
