Bampenase (Ash), June 28, GNA - The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Kofi Adjei Secondary/Technical School at Bampenase in the Kwabre district of Ashanti at the weekend presented a 50-seater bus valued at 80 million cedis to the school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Badu Kaakyire, chairman of the PTA, said besides the bus, the association had also built a kitchen for the school at the cost of 25 million cedis.

The association, he said, has also built a computer centre for the school and started fencing the school compound.

Mr Kaakyire said all these were done through members' contributions and therefore urged parents to pay their contributions promptly to enable the association to do more for the school.

Mr Joseph Kwasi Woode, Headmaster of the school, who received the keys to the bus, expressed appreciation to the PTA for its continuous assistance.

He enumerated a number of problems facing the school, prominent among them being the lack of a girls' hostel and appealed to the government to build a hostel for the girls.

He said due to the lack of a hostel and accommodation in the town, girls from the surrounding communities who gained admission to the school refused to enrol as day students.

Mr Woode also talked about the need for additional classrooms to accommodate the ever-increasing student population.

Mr Woode commended the government for providing a toilet facility and a workshop for the school. He also thanked the Kwabre District Assembly for providing hostel accommodation for the boys and the Senior Housemaster.

Nana Asante Frimpong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwabre, called on the communities to embark on self-help projects to attract assistance from government, adding that relying solely on the government for all developments was not feasible.

Nana Asaaman Kwao II, Oyoko-Bremanhene, urged the government to improve upon the road network linking Fawoade, Bampenase and Asumenya.
