PTA provides one billion cedis school block

Buoyem (B/A), June 8, GNA - The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Buoyem Secondary School in the Techiman municipality is putting up a one-billion-cedi three-storey building containing eight classrooms for the school.

The Association has so far spent 250 million cedis on the project and completed a 250-million-cedi three-classroom block with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, donating 100 bags of cement. The new PTA Chairman, Mr. Okrah made this known at an executive meeting with the teaching staff during which the old executives of the association were honoured.

He commended the old executives for their performance and appealed to them to continue with their efforts to improve the academic standard of the school.

The PTA chairman called on the government, the Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education and citizens of the area to assist in the provision of more infrastructure for the school. Nana Okomfo Dwamena-Akenten 1V, Buoyemhene, urged the teachers to redouble their efforts to help improve the performance of the students. He stressed that the training of the children was the collective responsibility and urged the teachers and parents to collaborate. The Chief acknowledged the self-help spirit of the PTA and asked the new executives to complete projects initiated to help improve education in the area.

Mr. Agyei Sasu, Headmaster, praised the cordial relationship between the parents and the teachers and gave the assurance that the school authorities would co-operate with the new PTA executives. He said the student population increased from 150 to 380 in the last academic year.

Nana Adjei Ameyaw, the former PTA Chairman pledged to assist the new executives and promised to continue his contact with the authorities of Habitat for Humanity to provide teachers' bungalows and a hostel for the school.
