Togbe Atsuvi Srem I, Headmaster of St Martin’s Senior High School at Adoagyiri near Nsawam, has called on parent-teacher associations (PTAs) to assist in the provision of school infrastructure.
He said this would go a long way to create a congenial atmosphere for teaching and learning.
Togbe Srem made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after inspecting school infrastructure being undertaken by the school’s PTA.
The projects are a dormitory, two teachers’ bungalows and a toilet facility at a cost of 750,000 Ghana cedis. So far 410,000 Ghana cedis had been spent on the projects.
Togbe Srem said parents, through the PTAs, could support their wards and the schools to overcome their challenges.
Mr Frank Emmanuel Bonnya Yankey, Chairman of the PTA, commended members for their contributions towards their children’s education and said they must not give up.
He appealed to non-governmental organisations, philanthropists and other charitable organisations to come to their aid to complete the projects.
Mr Yankey congratulated Mr Mohammed Alhassan, Inspector General of Police, who was a product of the school, for attaining that high position.
He called on other old students of the school holding reputable positions to assist their alma mater.
