Weija (G/AR), Oct. 27, GNA - Mr Stephen Owusu Afriyie, Chief Executive, Ga South Municipal Assembly, has appealed to parents and guardians in the area to invest in the education of their wards, instead of dissipate their monies on expensive clothes. He said since education was the key to development, parents and guardian should take advantage of the government's free education programme to send their children to school, so that they could become useful citizens. Mr Afriyie said these after presenting 13 bundles of roofing sheets to the Presbyterian JSS Parent and Teacher Association at Weija on Monday. He said brilliant but poor children within the Municipality, would be assisted by the Assembly through the common fund. Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Mr Daniel Aryitey, the PTA Chairman, thanked the Chief Executive and appealed to other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school The roofing sheets are to complete a three class-room block, an office and a store built by the PTA and people of the community through communal labour. Mr Afriyie also presented two packets of roofing sheets for the rehabilitation of the mosques within the Zongo Community, which was being used as a Day Care centre. Sariki Mumuni, Chief Imman of the Zongo Community, who received the items on behalf of the community, thanked the Assembly for coming to the aid of mosque. 27 Oct. 08
