Akim Awisah (E/R), Dec. 28, GNA - A former Minister of State, Dr Isaac K. Adjei-Maafo, has asked parents to live up to their responsibilities towards the education of their children to ensure that they grow to become responsible adults.

Dr Adjei-Maafo gave the advice when he feted over 2,000 children drawn from some communities in the Birim South District at Akim Awisa on Monday.

He reminded parents that children were their most valuable assets, adding neglecting ones parental responsibilities towards the child would result in that child becoming a burden on the society.

Dr Adjei-Maafo who said he had been organizing such children's parties over the past ten years, commended Prof. Kwame Karikari of the School of Communication Studies, University of Ghana, Legon, for assisting in this year's party.

On his decision to organize such annual parties, Dr Adjei-Marfo explained that while some children were "lucky" to enjoy rice and chicken during Christmas, many of them could not get that privilege, hence his decision to "fill in the vacuum."

Amid music by the Indigenous African dance group from Accra, the children ate, drank soft drinks and danced.

Dr Adjei-Maafo later donated a number of text and exercise books to some of the children. 28 Dec. 04
