Ehiamenkyene (E/R), Nov. 11, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Fanteakwa, Mr Kwadwo Agyei-Addo has granted scholarship to 33 basic school pupils at Ehiamankyene, Ahenkwesisi and Dadetsonaa to cover their school fees.
He announced this at a political rally at Ehiamankyene on Wednesday, where he was introduced to the chiefs and people of the surrounding villages.
Mr Agyei-Addo also offered to pay the school fees for the five children of the late Mantse Akwettey of Ehiamankyene and the salary of the teacher for the Ahenkwesisi Day Nursery.
He said all the scholarships were for one year and were subject to renewal and explained that, the amount involved in the scholarship scheme would be borne from his personal resources.
Mr Agyei-Addo also distributed six footballs and 900,000 cedis to six football clubs that participated in a special football tournament organized under his sponsorship.
The candidate, who is also the Presiding Member of the Fanteakwa District Assembly, assured the people that, when elected as a Member of Parliament, he would ensure that electricity is extended to Ehaimankyene and Bepoase.
He said he would also ensure that, the road leading to Ehiamankyene is tarred and the refuse dump at the Ehaimankyene market, which had developed into a hill, is cleared.
The Fanteakwa District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Ceasar assured that come what may, the NPP would win the presidential elections as well as the seats in the Krobo-dominated areas including Fanteakwa and urged the people to vote for NPP to be part of the victory celebrations.
Mr Kofi Asare Larteh, constituency chairman of the party, accused the incumbent NDC MP for the area, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo of failing to provide the area with electricity and tarred roads when he was the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister.
He urged the electorate to vote for Mr Agyei-Addo and assured that he would be able to honour all promises that he would make to the people.
