Reverend Johnson Nuako Nyametumi, Head Pastor of the Assembly of God, Mount Zion Assembly at Mim in the Brong Ahafo Region, has called for drafting and enactment of a comprehensive national development plan devoid of any partisan inclination.
He said Ghana is blessed with abundant natural and human resources with rich experiences and intellectual acumen, to enable it produce a national development plan that could stand the test of time.
Rev Nyametumi who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, explained that the current situation where incumbent government rule according to party manifesto or agenda has very obvious negative effect on the progress of the nation.
He bemoaned the situation where development projects initiated in sectors like transport, roads, education, health, housing, agriculture, environment and other major developmental efforts are abandoned or duplicated when there was a change of government.
He stressed that the phenomenon is a major setback to the nation’s forward march to socio-economic and political transformation.
The man of God called for an urgent initiative to get representatives from all sectors of the country’s socio-economic and political divide to draft a national development blue print that would be non-partisan in character and attainable in spirit … Ghana must always come first.
Quoting extensively from the book of Jeremiah 29:11 in the Holy Bible; Rev Nyametumi said God, who made the world, has plans for Ghana, so the leadership of the nation must have a good plan for the people to succeed.
“A non-partisan national development plan will provide sustainable efforts by successive governments to address challenges like bad roads, unemployment, power crisis, housing deficit and poor working conditions with its attendant strikes, demonstrations and other forms of agitations,” he said.
The Head Pastor urged Ghanaians to lead Godly lives and pray fervently and consistently for divine guidance and provident for a prosperous and peaceful nation.
He said: “Irrespective of our challenges as a people and a nation let us rise up and with unity of mind and purpose work hard to produce the best results for our nation”.
Rev Nyametumi also reminded Ghanaians that the nation is still the star of Africa and with God always on its side we should rise up and continue to shine.
