Winneba, Dec 10, GNA - Rev Samuel Kittah of the Assemblies of God church at Winneba on Thursday called on opinion leaders, parents, school authorities, the clergy and public organisations to play a frontline role to address issues on adolescent reproductive health. This, he said, would help to reduce the rate at which sexually transmitted infection (STI) including gonorrhoea, syphilis and especially HIV/AIDS were spreading.

Rev Kittah was addressing youth groups of the church on issues concerning adolescent sexual and reproductive health and its negative impact on the lives of young people.

He said the time had come for policy makers from the urban council level through the district to the national level to come out with measures that would deal with issues of adolescent reproductive health. ''District Assemblies should be able to organize forums to educate the youth on issues of teenage pregnancy, pre-marital sex, early child parenthood and indiscriminate sex,'' he said.

Rev Kittah called on parents, stakeholders and school authorities to play their expected role in helping to address some of the problems confronting the youth.
