People in Sangule District commend government

The chiefs and people in the Tatale/Sangule District, have commended government for creating the Tatale/Sangule District.

Obore Gariba Yankosor, paramount chief of the Tatale Traditional Area, made the commendation when he and his elders met the media at his palace at Tatale in the Northern Region.

He said this is the reason why one of the streets in Tatale township has been named after the Late President Atta Mills.

Obore Yankosor said since Ghana gained independence in 1957, the people in Tatale township and its suburbs, have been depending on a dam as their source of drinking water.

He said despite the fact that some boreholes were drilled for some communities in the area, Tatale township still has water shortage during dry season.

He indicated that since the district was created, a number of projects are springing up in the areas of Health, Education, Roads, Water and Sanitation, among others.

According to the paramount chief, very soon shortage of water in Tatale will be a thing of the past, because Small Town Water System has been provided to the township, from which most of its suburbs will be connected with their mechanized boreholes.

He announced that a new Assembly Office complex for the District Assembly in also under construction, to accommodate the decentralized departments, and other organizations in the District.

Obore Yankosor commended the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, and the Tatale/Sangule District Chief Executive, for their efforts.

He expressed his appreciation to the Chiefs, District Security Committee and people in the District for the peace prevailing in the area.

He recalled that in 2012 Tatale/Sangule District won the Peace Award of the Northern Region, and urged them to maintain it.

He appealed to investors to invest in the area.

Obore Yandosor appealed to government to work on the Tatale-Zabzugu-Yendi road.

He said majority of people in the area are farmers, and always transport their produce to the south for sale, and due to the bad nature of the road, most transport owners refuse to allow their lorries to ply the road during rainy season.

He said good roads play a key role in promoting the economy of the country.

Obore Yankosor appealed to the President to fulfill his promise of extending the Rural Electrification project to Kandin, Sheini, Kpalbitabu, Sangule, Yorjadom and Nahuyili.

He suggested to government to establish Ebola Virus Disease Centres at all the border towns within the country, because a lot of people cross these borders to Ghana.

Obore Yankosor further suggested to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAS), to form Hunters Associations to educate members on the dangers of the Ebola disease.
