Play effective roles, school authorities urged

Mr Raymond Akpatsa, a legal practitioner, has called on School Management Committees (SMC) and the Parents Teacher Associations (PTA) to play their expected roles to ensure quality education delivery.

He said the effectiveness of their roles would be felt if they, amongst others, continue to assist and solicit support from Non-governmental Organisations, education oriented organizations and the churches for resource mobilization for their schools; and provide the needed logistics support and enhance content and the teaching methodology of the schools.

Mr Akpatsa, well known for his contributions on the current affairs programme “What do You Know” on GTV, was speaking during a graduation ceremony for kindergarten pupils of the Aetherius School at Essipon in the Western Region.

He said “if we as parents fail to use our influence as members of the PTA and the SMC to contribute towards enriching both the human resource base of the school and ensuring effective teaching and learning, then it would be ironical of us to expect that our children will receive the best of education”.

Mr Akpatsa urged parents to continue playing key roles in education improvement, saying “it is in recognition of this that the new educational reforms seeks to allow parents a deeper and broader scope of responsibility and involvement in the administration and management of schools”.
