Police Officers Express Gratitude to the President

The Agona Swedru Divisional police commander, Chief Superintendent Justice K. Asante has expressed his sincerest gratitude to President John Agyekum Kuffour for providing the police with the needed gadgets to facilitate its services to the nation.

He said in times past, the police had nothing to boast about and could not do much but under the current situation, they hope to work harder to justify their stand as the protectors of life and property. Chief Supt. Asante expressed these sentiments at the inauguration of the NAKFO social club at Agona Swedru last Sunday.

He therefore called on the public to assist the police by providing them with the right and factual information that will enable them crush out criminals and sustain peace in the society.

Honourable Samuel Obodai, MP for Agona West, called on the youth to form more of such co-operative societies or clubs so that they could be assisted with relief funds to create more jobs for the youth.

Ebenezer Appraku, patron/solicitor of the club noted that the club will be used to promote development in the district and not just for fun.

He stated that there will be no discrimination whatsoever in its activities but will work as a team to support all developments, establish business ventures and create more job opportunities for the people.

Lawyer Appraku further announced that the club will also renovate and paint the chief's palace to befit such status and ensure that Agona Swedru becomes the cleanest town in Ghana.

He said, on discipline the club will enjoin its members to let probity and accountability be their watch word in their dealings with both members and non-members.

Ralf Botchwey, chairman, disclosed that the club is not political and aims at supporting the needy but brilliant school children in the district, educate the public on the dangers of the HIV/AIDS and assist its members.

It will also adopt the children's ward at the Swedru Government Hospital. He said the club, which was established four months ago, has about 80 members and was named after the late Napoleon Kwame Fori (NAKFO) for his love, dedication and humility towards all manner of people.
