Nyinahin (Ash), March 19, GNA- The Kumasi police on Wednesday arrested four persons including Nana Osei Agyemang alias Nana Kennedy, chief of Kyereyaaso near Nyinahin, Nana Minta Marfo, Krontihene of Sankore in Brong-Ahafo, Yaw Donkor, a beer bar owner at Nyinahin and Eric Yaw Tawiah, a farmer, in connection with the murder of Kwame Marfo, an akpeteshie retailer.
Marfo was killed and buried at the outskirts of Nyinahin about three weeks ago.
The police on Thursday led the suspects to the scene of burial and exhumed the body for post-mortem examination.
News of the arrest of the suspects and exhumation of the body of Marfo brought out people of Nyinahin and nearby communities to catch a glimpse of the culprits.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the case, Police Detective Chief Inspector Robertson S.T. Akor, said on December 24, 2003, the deceased boarded Nana Agyemang's vehicle with 23 tins of akpeteshie valued at 3.2 million cedis from Kumasi to sell at Nyinahin.
He said on reaching Nyinahin, the chief took the deceased to Yaw Donkor with the view to buying the whole consignment of akpeteshie. Chief Inspector Akor said Donkor paid an initial deposit of 140,000 cedis and later added 2.4 million cedis leaving a balance of 680,000 cedis.
He said on February 25, 2004, when Marfo went to collect the balance from Donkor, he directed him to Nana Agyemang at Kyereyaaso, where he allegedly killed him (Marfo).
Chief Inspector Akor said Nana Agyemang then solicited the assistance of Donkor and Tawiah to bury the victim with a promise of giving them 30 million cedis and so they buried the body in the bush near Nyinahin.
Madam Akua Nyamekye, wife of the deceased reported the matter to the Kumasi police.
The police, he said, took up to investigate the whereabouts of the deceased leading to the arrest of the four suspects who will be arraigned before court on March 26.
