Police intensify investigations into case against chief

Bibiani (W/R), Jan. 4, GNA - The Bibiani police have intensified their investigations into a case in which Nana Yaw Gyebi II, Omanhene of Sefwi-Anhwiaso Traditional Area and a group of 'machomen' allegedly demolished seven uncompleted stores at Degede, a suburb of Bibiani, on New Year's eve.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Antwi-Gyawu, Bibiani District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that his outfit had information that Nana Gyebi led a group, armed with guns and other offensive weapons to demolish stores being developed by one Richard Ackah.

He said he dispatched a team of policemen to the scene who found out that the entire block had been completely destroyed. DSP Antwi-Gyawu said police arrested one of the suspects for interrogation but Nana Gyebi led the other group members to storm the police station and forcibly released the suspect from lawful custody.
