Nkoranza (B/A) Feb 7, GNA- Police at Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo are looking for the parents of 17-year-old girl who died at the Nkoranza-Ahyiayem rural clinic on Tuesday, February three. Police Superintendent Benjamin Wiafe-Kwabeng, officer in charge of Nkoranza Police told Ghana News Agency (GNA) the deceased gave her name as Priscilla resident of Atonsu in Kumasi.
He said the midwife in charge of the clinic, Madam Agnes Addisa told the police the girl reported at the clinic for medical attention and complained of abdominal pains.
The deceased could not give any further information about herself before she died, Supt Wiafe-Kwabeng added.
Meanwhile the body had been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman pending identification and collection. In another development, Master Kofi Agyeman, a 14-year-old student of the Nkoranza Local Junior Secondary School (JSS) "B" last Monday got drowned in River Ofuofu near the Nkoranza-Donkro-Nkwanta-Sekodumase main road.
Supt Wiafe-Kwabeng told the GNA at Nkoranza that the incident occurred when the deceased and five colleagues went fishing in the river.
He said investigations showed that after trying several times without any cathch, the deceased decided to move a little further along the banks of the river and got drowned. His friends ran home for help but when personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene, he was retrieved and pronounced dead.
The body was sent to St. Theresa's Hospital at Nkoranza for autopsy. He had since been buried.
