The Eastern Regional Police Command has opened a Book of Condolence at the Regional Police Headquarters at Galloway, Koforidua to enable the public to pay tribute to the former Regional Police Commander, DCOP Angwubutuge Awuni, who passed away on Monday.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, leaders of institutions and stakeholders could pay tribute to the late police chief during working hours.
He disclosed that on Friday, March 18, 2016, senior police officers in the Eastern Region will meet at the regional headquarters to make further plans.
DCOP Awuni on Monday passed way at the Police Hospital in Accra.
The one-week celebration is slated for Monday at the Police Social Centre behind the Police Headquarters in Accra.
DCOP Awuni, who was commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), died after a short illness.
He was an accredited member and a Council Member of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana, as well as the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
The seasoned law enforcement officer served with the Police Service since 1980.
He was the Director of Public Relations, District Police Commander, Divisional Police Commander, Regional Police Commander and Commanding Officer-MTTU.
Mr. Awuni obtained an MA in Governance and Leadership from GIMPA and a Diploma in Journalism from GIJ.
He served on United Nations (UN) Missions in Namibia, Bosnia and Sudan.
