Minister for Interior Mark Woyongo has revealed henceforth police recruitment will be computerised to avert future scams.

Woyongo told host of Ultimate Breakfast Prince Minkah in Kumasi that although the initiative is not “full-proof” it will bring some sanity and transparency in the recruitment process.

“We need to have a more transparent way of recruiting people into the security agencies. I keep on giving the example of the Ghana Armed Forces who use this computerised system,” the interior minister noted.

“Even though it is not full-proof, it is much better where you feed in your details on the internet so that if you have the qualities you will be shortlisted.”

Woyongo’s comments follow the alleged involvement of the Director General in charge of Police Human Resource Development, COP Patrick Timbillah in the recent nationwide police recruitment scam.

COP Timbillah who has since been interdicted was last Friday put under house arrest, but his restrictions were relaxed over the weekend.

Woyongo expressed utmost shock over the development, stating he had several engagements with the man in question after gathering intelligence over the scam last December.
