Police to begin training in June

Prospective applications who will successfully pass the criteria for recruitment into the police service are expected to begin training by the end of June the Supt. Cepahs Arthur, Director of Public Relations has said.

Supt. Cephas Arthur in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio said, the Police Administration is optimistic that, it will be able to begin training for the successful candidates at the various police training schools. The Police Administration announced last week that it was set to commence recruitment of persons desirous of joining the service.

The service is for the first time embarking on an electronic form of recruitment as part of efforts to to reduce scams usually associated with recruitment processes. Prospective applicants must buy an e-Voucher from any branch of GCB Bank Ltd across the country and fill an online application forms.

Buyers are however to note that the e-vouchers contain special serial numbers and pin codes which are the only means through which they can access the forms.

According to the Police PRO, the service is cautioning the public against scammers who will want to defraud them with the pretext of helping them join the service as the police have not contracted anyone on its behalf to recruit for them.

Prospective applicants are advised to be wary of fraudsters who may offer to assist them join the Service, or those who may present themselves as middlemen contracted by the Police to recruit on its behalf.

The Police wishes to state categorically that no such middlemen or contractors have been engaged to sell forms or recruit on its behalf."

Supt. Cehas Arthur explained that the process will be fast tracked and he is optimistic that all candidates meeting the requisite positive vetting would be called to training.

"Candidates would be notified of their reporting dates and venues for the recruit training. All instructions for reporting to the Training School will be sent to the successful candidate through his or her email address," he said.

The sale of the e-vouchers began yesterday with prospective applicanys besieging the various GCB branchhes nationwide. Supt. Cephas Arthur noted, the reason why the service decided to deal with only GCB is due to security reasons. 2016 Ghana Police Recruitment Criteria for short-listing.

The general criteria for short-listing eligible candidates are described below.

These are the basic minimum that the Service will consider. Applicants must assure themselves of meeting them before buying the voucher for online application.

The applicant:

1.Must be a Ghanaian.

2. Must be NOT less than eighteen (18) years and NOT more than twenty-five (25) years of age by 1st April, 2016.

3. Must be, at least 5 feet 8 inches(1.73 meters) tall for males, and 5 feet 4 inches (1.63 meters) for females.

4. Must be physically fit.

5. Must be of good character without any criminal records.

6. All applicants must posses a minimum academic qualification of six (6) credit (A1 to C6) at WASSCE including English Language and mathematics.
