Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, has asked personnel of the police service to maintain a high sense of discipline and integrity.
They should refuse to be corrupted, remain firm and fair, in the enforcement of the law.
He said it was by so doing that they could win public support, trust and confidence.
DCOP Boakye was addressing officers and men of the service in the Offinso Municipality during a day’s tour of the area to acquaint himself with operational challenges facing them.
He spoke of the dangers that come with obsession with money and material wealth and said that could land them in trouble.
He warned them against doing anything likely to create image problems for the service and said that would not be accepted.
The Regional Commander gave the assurance that they would be supplied with more logistics to enhance their performance and to stay ahead of criminals in the society.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Edward Oduro Kwarteng, the Offinso Divisional Commander, said crime was on the decline in the area and attributed the downward trend to effective measures and strategies they had put in place.
He described the political atmosphere there as calm and said chieftaincy disputes had also been brought under control.
He, however, complained about inadequate personnel, something he said, was not helpful to efforts at ensuring more police visibility.
Added to this, is the lack of residential accommodation.
ACP Oduro-Kwarteng said the refreshing news was that a modern police station would soon be built at Abofuor.
DCOP Boakye earlier paid separate courtesy calls on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Baffour Kese-Amankwaa, his Afigya-Kwabre counterpart, Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, and the Omanhene of Offinso, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, where he received praise for his hard work and strong commitment to fight crime.
