Accra, Jan. 3, GNA - Ten families at the Tesano Police Barracks affected by last Saturday's rainstorm that hit parts of Accra have been relocated at a motel pending rehabilitation of the Barracks. Nana Stephen Owusu-Nsiah, Inspector General of Police, who announced this during a visit to the Barracks, said the Police Administration would be spending one million cedis daily on accommodation for the families pending the rehabilitation of the buildings.

He said artisans have moved to the Barracks and work would start on Tuesday and would be completed in three weeks. The Police Chief said the entire roofing of the buildings would have to be replaced. The Police Administration would also come out with appropriate measures to mitigate the effect of the devastation on the families.

"Even though psychologically it may have some effect, the personnel involved would go about their normal duties of maintaining law and order."

Nana Owusu-Nsiah said that accommodation for the Police Service would be a top priority this year, followed by communications equipment and welfare.

He appealed to organisations and individuals to come to the assistance of the Police Service to cope with the challenges of the times.
