Bawku (UE) March 3, GNA-A Police Constable, Philip
Darko, stationed at Pusiga near Bawku was on Sunday found
dead in Kulungungu also near Bawku in the Upper East
Region. He was found dead on Sunday morning, February 27th
near his tent where he performed his official duty the previous
night with his colleagues. Police Superintendent Samuel Kwaku Alordey, in charge of
the Bawku Municipality, on Thursday confirmed this in an
interview with the Ghana News Agency. According to Superintendent Alordey, the cause of
constable Darko's death had not yet been established, but
post mortem and other investigations were ongoing. Superintendent Alordey noted that before his death, Darko
was a hardworking police man who performed his duties
diligently. The Bawku Municipal Police commander, Assistant
Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kweku Boadu-Pepprah, noted
that the police do not suspect any foul play. ACP Boadu-Pepprah called on the police personnel on the
ground not to be traumatized by the incident but should see it
as one of the work hazards. He urged them all to work hard
for the good image of the service. Meanwhile, the corpse has been deposited at the
Bolgatanga mortuary.
