Practise good health to prevent diseases-Joyce Aidoo

Mumford (C/R) Oct. 16, GNA - Ghanaians have been called upon to practice good health, cleanliness and hygiene to prevent and minimize illness.

Madam Joyce Aidoo, Gomoa District Chief Executive made the call at the launching of the Gomoa District Hand Washing with Soap programme" at Mumford on Thursday.

She said that the best way of preventing some of the diseases is to ensure good hygienic lifestyles and through environmental cleanliness and good personal hygiene.

The DCE therefore called on all stakeholders, especially the staff and management of schools not only to embrace or accept this programme, but also to ensure that it is practised. Madam Aidoo told workers in the district that the assembly in collaboration with the government would do all they could to address and support such programmes to promote and ensure the good health of the people in the area.

The DCE charged the 10-member committee and the Community and Water Sanitation Agency charged to educate the people on the need to wash their hands with soap to continue to intensify their education on the importance of the programme.

Ms Beatrice Annan from the Gomoa District Health Directorate said "simple washing of our hands" with soap and water after visiting the toilet and also before cooking and eating could prevent dysentery, worm infestation and other diseases.

She said that the Ghana Health Service is working fervently at various level of health care to ensure that the health and welfare of the people were protected.
