Presby Church consoles Veep

Accra, Nov. 29, GNA 96 The Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Wednesday sent a message of condolence to Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama on the death of three of his Security Guards in a motor accident on the Chiraa - Sunyani Highway on Saturday. The Church extended the condolences to the families of the victims and all Ghanaians.

The three: Sergeant (Sgt) Major Bawah Ayomah; Sgt Edward Anane Koranteng and Sgt Azumah Alhassan died when the Vice-Presidential Convoy was involved in the accident.

A statement Mr Emmanuel Osei-Akyeampong, Public Relations Officer of the Church signed on Wednesday said: 93On behalf of the General Assembly Council and the entire membership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Moderator duly expresses our deepest sympathy to you and all Ghanains for the pains of such accidents and particularly for the loss of lives.=94

=93Indeed, the entire Presbyterian fraternity is firmly behind you with prayers in these challenging periods and it is our conviction that the Good Lord Himself will strengthen you and the entire nation to overcome this trauma,=94 the statement said.

It said: 93We pray the Lord will enable you to continue to discharge your duties as the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana as you have been doing so creditably well.

=93Again, we wish to express our sympathy to the bereaved families, and join them in prayers in this period of sorrow. It is our hope that the Almighty God will wipe away their tears, as we also pray for the speedy recovery of those, who have been injured.=94 The statement appealed to all motorists to drive with care during the Yuletide and called on all Ghanaians to 93enter into serious prayers for the whole nation, especially at this period of the year when the forces of darkness intensify their activities=94.
