Cape Coast, June 28, GNA - Members of the Saint Paul's Presbyterian Church in Cape Coast, were over the weekend, screened for the early identification of ailments including diabetes, blood pressure and HIV&AIDS.
The exercise, organized by the Ministers' Wives Association of the Central Presbytery of the Church, in collaboration with the Social Services Group and the Ghana AIDS Commission, was interspersed with counselling on healthy practices.
The leaders of the Association, Mrs Adeline Asare-Akoto and Mrs Audrey Boadu took turns to explain the objective behind the exercise, which they said, was to enable the members to know their health status, particularly on HIV, for them to seek early treatment.
They said HIV/AIDS is not a spiritual infestation disease as some people claim and urged members to spread the news of behavioural change and also discourage stigmatizing people living with the disease.
Mrs Boadu charged Christians to live above reproach and endeavour to eschew all forms of social vices, such as excessive intake of alcohol, abuse of drugs and the habit of keeping multiple partners.
Mrs Akoto spoke against the practice of homosexuality and pointed out that God in His wisdom created man and gave a woman to him for a wife, and advised against same sex practises in order not to incur the wrath of God.
