Tinkong (E/R), Nov 2, GNA -The Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has handed over a six-unit classroom block to the Tinkong Presbyterian Primary School.

The building, which the Akuapem Presbytery funded with support from the American Embassy at the cost of more than GHC60, 000 would help to alleviate the accommodation problem facing the school.

The Akuapem Presbytery Chairperson of the Church, the Rev Dr Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, unveiled a plague and said the church was ready to invest in quality education especially at the basic level. He said the Presbytery had set up a scholarship scheme to help brilliant but needy children in the church.

The Rev Dr Mante said it was unfortunate that some parents had neglected their responsibilities of taking care of the educational needs of their children and urged society to be up and doing.

He expressed concern about the decline in educational performance in the country at both basic and senior high school levels and urged all stakeholders to join hands to remedy the situation.

The Headteaher of the school, Mrs Janet Adu, expressed her appreciation to the church and the American Embassy for funding the building.
