President Akufo-Addo confers Grand Medal Award on GETFund Administrator

President Akufo-Addo on Monday, December 30, conferred the prestigious Grand Medal Award on Dr. Richard Ampofo Boadu, Administrator of the GETFund, at the National Honours and Awards ceremony in Accra.

The award is in recognition of his exceptional leadership, foresight, and unwavering commitment as Administrator of the GETFund.

GETFund is a public sector agency with the primary objective of providing finance to supplement educational activities at all levels of education in Ghana.

Since 2017, GETFund has completed a total of 3,077 projects across the country. These include 1,832 legacy projects, such as E-Blocks, and 1,245 new structures.

About the Awards

The National Honours and Awards Ceremony serves as a platform to acknowledge individuals whose remarkable achievements and dedication have significantly impacted Ghana’s progress, underscoring the importance of national service and excellence.

The Grand Medal Award is one of five distinct awards conferred on distinguished individuals by President Akufo-Addo.

The Grand Medal Award features the National Coat of Arms and the symbol of an elephant, which has been used since the award's institution in 1960.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, Ministers of State, and other high-ranking citizens and government officials.

Among the honorees was Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received the highest honor of the land, the ‘Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Awardee.’
