Walewale (N/R), Sept. 28, GNA - The President's nominee for the West Mamprusi District, Mr Adam Yussif was endorsed overwhelmingly with 98.3 per cent of the vote cast by the Assembly on Wednesday, to become the new District Chief Executive (DCE). The post of the DCE for the area became vacant after the former DCE Mr Lord Abdulai Zakaria was dismissed by President John Evans Atta Mills.
Mr Yussif, 42 and a teacher by profession, secured 59 out of the total vote cast by the 60-member Assembly. Until his nomination and subsequent approval, the DCE was a tutor at the Walewale Senior High School. Delivery his maiden address, he commended the Assembly Members for the massive endorsement and promised to operate an all inclusive administration with education as his major priority. He pleaded with his colleague assembly members to approach the house's business on bi-partisan lines to ensure the speedy execution of projects on the development agenda. He outlined his vision for the District part of which will concentrate on building bridges to ease the tension that has always mounted in Walewale, the District capital. Mr Yussif assured the people of Walewale that he will formulate realistic programmes to make the area a better place for investment. He also pledged his commitment to work in good relation with his political opponents in an atmosphere of peaceful co-existence and tolerance.
Mr Yussif advised the youth to be of good behaviour since one of his major priorities will concentrate on women and youth development. Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba, Northern Regional Minister, who expressed joy that the assembly members had approved the President's nominee appealed to the people to co-operate with the DCE to discharge his functions in line with the Better Ghana Agenda. He announced government's plans to commence works on the Walewale-Nalerigu road and other roads in the Mamprugu Kingdom.
