Hon. Emmanuel Asuah Dadzie, the Presiding member of the Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly who doubles as the Assembly member for Kwanwoma, Aboabo-kesse,Duropam electoral area, has refuted allegations leveled against him by some members of the Kwanwoma community for selling lands and winning sand on the school land.

It must be opined, however, that, Kwame Okyem Fordjour who calls himself as the Abontendomhene made the allegations and organized some people to stop the Assembly member and his Unit committee members from upgrading the school field.

This man was ousted from his position as the Kontihene of Kwanwoma traditional council sometime ago, but has now entrenched himself in another leadership position as the Abontendomhene of the town, a position which does not exist neither in Asante nor Akan chieftaincy.

Speaking in an interview, Hon. Asuah Dadzie, the Assemblyman of the aforementioned communities said, the idea for upgrading the school field was mooted and brought to fruition by himself, his unit committee members, the late Nana Kofi Agyei, IV, the then chief of Kwanwoma and his elders.

He stressed that, the field had a steep slope and each time it rained, the compound of the school got flooded, destroying their books, teaching and learning materials, and other valuable items.

He noted that, when the project is completed, it will serve as a standard pitch for Kwanwoma and the surrounding communities.

He maintained that, the proceeds from the sand on the pitch have been used for the construction of a 3-unit classroom block with office and staff common room for the D/A JHS, and another 3-unit classroom block at the window level for the Presbyterian Primary School on the same compound.

Hon. Dadzie however, denied knowledge of selling of lands.

He therefore, pointed out that, the allegation is intended to dent his reputation.

He hinted that, he has been able to establish the first government school in the Aboabo-kesse community.

According to him, he has put up another 3-unit classroom block for the newly established Aboabo-kesse D/A Primary.

Mrs Barbara Kissiwaa, the headmistress of the Presbyterian Primary School of Kwanwoma noted that, ever since the Assemblyman started upgrading the field, the flooding has come to a halt.

She commended Hon. Dadzie for his efforts to support the school.

Madam Akosua Afriyie, a food vendor at the premises of the Kwanwoma Presbyterian Primary & D/A J.H.S. said, the place was harbouring snakes and other reptiles, based on the fact that it was very bushy.

She showered blessings on Hon. Dadzie for upgrading the school field.

Mr Osei Bonsu, a native of Kwanwoma stated that, majority of the members of Kwanwoma are in support of the project.

He added that, the sloping nature of the field was posing a menace to the pupil, owing to the fact that, the compound of the school has been eroded, and when it rains, the classrooms and the whole compound floods. Play tape----
